Sanjay Poonen, VMware’s chief operating officer, the company’s highly regarded seven-year veteran who oversaw all of VMware’s sales and customer operations, is leaving the multicloud software powerhouse after being handed over as CEO.
Poonen, a stand-alone software superstar who turned the company’s end-user computer organization into a $ 1 billion deal, said in a tweet Tuesday morning that he will be covering more about his “next adventure” over the next few weeks and months will.
“The past seven years have been a great time at VMware. Friendships were made, everything we built together touched employees and influenced customers / partners, ”Poonen wrote. “I’m also excited to see what I’ll do next … stay tuned.”
