Today sees the arrival of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge on multiple platforms including Switch.

In case you missed the coverage leading up to its release, this is a classically inspired racket that not only stars the turtles but many other familiar faces as well. There is also multiplayer for up to six players. If you’re still not convinced, read on to see the summary of reviews so far.

First, we will briefly highlight our own. We rated the game 9 out of 10 stars with “very good”:

Right, with that out of the way, here are some thoughts from elsewhere – starting with IGNwho gave this new release 8 out of 10 points:

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is exactly what it looks like: a lovingly crafted reimagining of TMNT arcade beat ’em ups from one of the finest beat ’em up creators alive today.”

Nintendo World Report Gave Turtle’s Latest Game 9 out of 10:

“In short, if you’re a TMNT fan or love beat ’em ups, you’re bound to fall for the colorful and upbeat Shredder’s Revenge, especially when you find a few other ninjas to kick back with.”

GamesBible was also impressed and awarded another 9 out of 10 points:

“File Shredder’s revenge next to people like Streets of Rage 4 and River City girls as a contemporary masterpiece of its kind, an exemplary demonstration of how to polish a stylistic path that has already gone well after so many straight-ahead experiences and somehow make the journey so much more special than the destination.”

EGM Gave it 4 out of 5 stars but had a few issues:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge aims to bring back the glory days of Konami’s side-scrolling arcade beat ’em ups and home hits based on everyone’s favorite young green ninjas. In terms of visuals and gameplay, Dotemu and Tribute Games have not only equaled, but perhaps even surpassed, the retro classics they pay homage to here. Unfortunately, this journey through time is marred somewhat by inconsistent audio and an arcade mode that feels more like a grind than a thrill.”

Last but not least, GoNintendo – another outlet that absolutely loved it:

“TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge is a genuine article and once again proves Dotemu’s incredible respect/understanding of classic beat ’em-ups. Now we know that Tribute Games can do exactly the same, and these two teaming up resulted in not only one of the best TMNT games of all time, but one of the best beat ’em-ups in years.”
