Maybe you play FPS titles like Call Of Duty most of the time, but maybe you’ve tested the waters with MOBAs or Battle Royale games. The Rival 5 can handle anything with its 9-button layout. This doesn’t seem like the best option for MMO players. Which can rely heavily on a gaming mouse with more than 12 buttons.
On the other hand, this is a bit preferred. The Rival 5 will surely work for any game genre.
The secret sauce of the SteelSeries Rival 5 gaming mouse is the toggle switch
There are a few special things about this mouse. Last but not least, the 5-button quick access panel on the left that your thumb rests on.
The secret sauce, however, is the toggle switch located on this control panel. According to SteelSeries, it allows players to perform ultra-fast actions in the game. This is right at the top of the left-hand side. And is indeed a toggle switch that you can push up or down like a light switch.
It has a customizable feature that allows you to quickly associate it with the in-game actions you want to take. Then you have a handful of other buttons to press for additional skills and abilities.
The mouse also only weighs about 85 grams, so it’s pretty light and should move around your mouse mat pretty quickly.
It only costs $ 60
While something like that Razer Naga Pro This is possibly the best option for MMO players. It also costs $ 150. And that without a charging station. However, the Rival 5 costs $ 60.
Which is not much for a high quality gaming mouse with so many nice features. SteelSeries definitely has some more expensive options too. However, these are usually wireless, while the Rival 5 is a wired option. And that’s certainly part of the lower cost.
The “wire” part of the Rival 5 is covered with a super-mesh exterior to keep the cable protected. According to SteelSeries, this makes the mouse feel lighter and puts less strain on the cable when moving it over the mat.
