Spotify expands its platform with a new hi-fi audio subscription option.
From the end of this year, Spotify Premium subscribers will be able to “improve” their sound quality on Spotify HiFi in selected markets, according to the music streaming company.
The news was announced today (February 22nd) during Spotify’s Stream On event, where Billie Eilish and FINNEAS discussed high quality audio.
Spotify says Spotify HiFi will deliver CD-quality audio lossless audio and is currently working with some of the world’s largest speaker manufacturers to bring Spotify HiFi to as many fans as possible through Spotify Connect.
According to SPOT, high quality music streaming is “consistently one of the most sought-after new features” by its users.
SPOT has confirmed that its new subscription offering will be launched in select markets later this year. However, the company has not yet confirmed whether or not and how much additional costs will be incurred.
Existing Amazon Prime members are $ 12.99 (US) / £ 12.99 (UK) per month and non-Prime members are $ 14.99 / $ 14.99 per month. Existing Amazon Music Unlimited Subscribers can upgrade for an additional $ 5 / £ 5 per month.
One of the best known HD music streaming offerings in existence is from TIDAL, whose TIDAL Hi-FI subscription costs $ 19.99 per month and offers lossless, CD-quality 44.1 kHz / 16-bit streams.
Meanwhile, Deezer offers a HiFi tier at a standard price of $ 19.99 per month that, like TIDAL’s equivalent, transmits music at 44.1 kHz / 16 bit via FLAC files.
“High quality audio means more information. There are things you won’t hear if you don’t have a good sound system.”
Billie Eilish said, “High quality audio means more information. There are things you won’t hear if you don’t have a good sound system.
“It’s really important just because that’s how we make music [we] I want to be heard the way it was done. “
“Whenever someone really takes the time to sit down with our music and hear it in really high quality, it’s very exciting because I know that you will hear everything we intended.”
FINNEAS added, “Anytime someone really takes the time to sit down with our music and hear it in a really high quality way, it’s very exciting because I know they’ll hear everything we intended.”Music business worldwide
