Global public cloud spending grew 26% to $126 billion in the first quarter of 2022, new figures show, with infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS) posting the fastest gains.
The big three hyperscale cloud providers — Amazon’s AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud — have been the biggest beneficiaries of this growth. To meet this growing demand, they are increasing their investments in data centers, the numbers show.
Data from Synergy Research Group shows that combined IaaS and PaaS revenue was $44 billion in the first quarter of 2022, up 36% from 2021, with strong growth seen in other areas as well.
