Anthropic’s Dario Amodei struggles to digest a bitter lesson in realpolitik: CEOs who moralize about how the military should fight wars won’t go down well with the Pentagon.
This follows the Pentagon’s decision to fire Anthropic after it denied the military full use of its AI technology on ethical grounds. Anthropic’s concern is that the AI models of the border regions are not reliable enough to be fully autonomous weapons. Certainly Pete Hegseth’s subsequent removal of Anthropic from government work because of his refusal to abandon his ethical reservations was stubborn.
