Skanska Romania, the local subsidiary of one of the world’s largest real estate developers, has set foundation stone with Microsoft Romania for the second phase of the Campus 6 project. Microsoft Romania has leased 98 percent of Campus 6.2 as well two floors in Campus 6.3. In total, the company secured around 23,000 sqm of office space in the complex to move in 2020.
The event was attended by members and partners of Skanska Romania and Microsoft Romania, such as Bates International, Corvin Cristian Studio, JLL and CBRE.
“Microsoft’s mission – and the vision behind all our products, services and innovations – is to provide the opportunity for all people and organizations to do more. It’s something that we naturally want for our team – that’s why the partnership with Skanska is not a coincidence. We have a lot in common, and we have found in this space elements that define the spirit of Microsoft: courageous and sustainable innovation, focus on excellence and continuous development. We are excited to move to a space that really deserves the “future-proof” attribute,” said Violeta Luca, Microsoft general manager.
Buildings in which Microsoft will move will be certified LEED and WELL. Campus 6.2 and 6.3 are the first office buildings in Romania to be WELL-certified, this being the most important standard for buildings focused on improving health and well-being through the attributes of the built environment. Microsoft employees will be the first to run at 40 m high on the dedicated track, on the roof of Campus 6.2 and Campus 6.3 buildings. In addition, they will be able to work outdoors in placemaking equipped with multifunctional furnishings, electrical outlets and Wi-Fi.
Located in the center-west area of Bucharest, near the Polytechnic University, where the future of the IT industry is being studied, the Campus 6 complex revitalizes the area and contributes to the development of the urban landscape and the surrounding community.
Smart solutions and state-of-the-art technology in Campus 6 give users complete experience and turn the project into an innovative one. The complex will have an all-in-one Building App offering car & bike sharing, drop by box and food delivery, as well as a Virtual Reception that digits access to the building. The integrated operating system will allow users to contact them directly with those responsible for building maintenance as well as finding facilities and events in the area.
“In the life of each project, as in every human’s life, there are certain special moments worth celebrating. The laying of the foundation stone is a very special one and we are pleased to mark this moment with Microsoft. The special moment of the event was the one in which each participant put a few lines on a sheet of paper about how they imagine they would show the offices of the future. All these have been placed at the foundation of Campus 6.2 office building,” said Aurelia Luca, managing director of Skanska Property Romania
Campus 6 includes four office buildings with a total rental surface of 81,000 sqm and two underground levels with 1,000 parking spaces. The first phase of the project has already been delivered in T3 since 2018 and the completion of the whole complex is scheduled for 2022.
