Significant Plan by IBM to Establish AI Cluster for BFSI Units in Gujarat

IBM is planning to set up an AI cluster in Gujarat’s GIFT City to facilitate the implementation of AI technologies in the BFSI sector. The cluster will operate from IBM’s software labs and leverage its Watsonx platform. In collaboration with the Gujarat government, Microsoft, and Nasscom, a memorandum of understanding has been signed to establish an AI Center of Excellence. The initiative aims to train 25,000 students in AI and IT skills and host a STEM workshop for 10,000 high school students.IBM’s CEO Sandip Patel emphasized the importance of collective participation in developing artificial intelligence capabilities among BFSI participants at GIFT City. The company aims to provide technical platforms, capabilities, and expertise to support this initiative and ensure the responsible integration of AI technologies into businesses. The AI cluster will primarily operate from IBM’s software labs, utilizing the Watsonx platform to organize data effectively and create practical applications and use cases. Additionally, the signed MoUs highlight plans for an AI Center of Excellence to develop sector-specific AI use cases, facilitate data sharing, provide training for AI model development, and promote the adoption of AI solutions across various sectors. Furthermore, capacity building programs have been established to train and certify 25,000 students in AI and IT skills, along with launching a STEM workshop for 10,000 high school students at Science City.
