Privacy-centric messaging app Signal tried to run a very honest advertising campaign on Instagram owned by Facebook, but it was not by design.

Signal explained how it went in one Blog post Tuesday. The idea was to run ads on Instagram that used the data an online advertiser might have collected about users and basically show the user what that data could be for them.
