SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Since the announcement of a multi-part data center project, Shreveport residents have voiced opposition, citing concerns over transparency, rising utility costs, water supply, and environmental impact.
Residents call for transparency
Connor Ward and Abby Whittington, two Shreveport residents opposed to the project, said the plan lacks transparency.
“It is not being talked about a lot,” Whittington said.
Whittington said she is concerned about the financial burden the project could place on residents.
“This is gonna double our electricity bills,” Whittington said. “People in Shreveport are living paycheck to paycheck. I’m living paycheck to paycheck. I can’t afford that and I can’t afford for my water to be gone.”
Water supply questions remain unanswered
Ward said questions about the source and volume of water the project will consume remain unanswered.
