The recent update to Google Contacts on Android (version 4.34) now allows users to view and respond to message notifications directly from contact widgets on their home screen. Users can also view shared locations from Google Maps through the contact widget, as well as set specific times for reminder notifications.
In a recent update, Google Contacts introduced the ability to see message notifications in contact widgets. This feature has now been officially confirmed on the app’s Play Store listing page, with version 4.34 offering users the option to “View and respond to notifications from certain apps in the Contacts widget.” To access this feature, users can long-press a free space on their home screen, select widgets, scroll down to Contacts, pick a contact widget, and place it on the home screen. The widget allows users to view messages from contacts and even offers Smart Reply suggestions. It also displays shared Google Maps locations.
A new addition to this update is the ability to set specific times for reminder notifications. By tapping on the contact widget and accessing the contact’s profile page, users can select Reminders from the contacts settings section, create or choose a reminder, and set the time for receiving notifications.
