“Shadow AI” is widespread – and executives use it most often

• It found that more than 80% of workers, including nearly 90% of security professionals, use unapproved AI tools in their work a new report from cyber risk monitoring provider UpGuard.
• This unauthorized use of AI, which can lead to security vulnerabilities, is not only widespread but pervasive: half of workers report regularly using unauthorized AI tools, and less than 20% report only using company-approved AI tools.
• According to the report, security leaders were more likely than the average employee to report using unapproved tools and far more likely to say they did so regularly.
