With Minnesota and the Twin Cities in the spotlight of every news outlet and social media platform, it can be overwhelming to find ways to care for ourselves in light of current events on our doorstep.
As someone who regularly uses social media and reads news to stay up to date on local events, I’ve been taking small breaks from social media use lately to stay grounded during these uncertain times, which is a luxury many don’t have.
Although part of my job is to be aware of what’s going on, I’ve found ways to stay grounded to prevent myself from feeling burned out by trying to be mindful and finding ways to help. A feeling that many feel close to. This is why caring for ourselves emotionally, mentally and physically is just as important as helping those directly affected in our community.
