Security providers impersonated by hackers

Cybersecurity provider Crowdstrike’s customers are being scammed with a “callback phishing” campaign. Cybercriminals are using email to impersonate the company — and other well-known security providers — to trick victims into calling them to download malware, Crowdstrike has warned.

The Crowdstrike email scam claims the victim suffered a security breach and insists further access is needed to fix the issue. The criminals target employees individually and use social engineering tactics to trick employees into calling the number, according to Crowdstrike, a company that provides security software to over 16,000 businesses around the world.
