The man who was beaten and killed while stopping in the middle of Portland Avenue to tend a cat was identified Thursday morning.
Michal Wing, 29, of Sanford was identified by Rollinsford Police as the Good Samaritan who stopped late Monday night to help the cat.
Wing was hit by a vehicle traveling west near Short Street and Cumberland Farms.
Rollinsford Police Chief Jon Uraskevich said the driver stopped and was working with police on the investigation.
“I just can’t imagine what a compassionate person he was,” wrote Moe Cahill on the Wings sibling Chris’ Facebook page.
“I worked with Michal. The cutest person I have ever known. I send my condolences to you and your family,” wrote Cheri Beausoleil.
Wings’ family declined to comment on the story when contacted by Seacoast Current because, as one family member said, he was a private individual.
