Samsung just unveiled a unique curved gaming monitor CES 2022, called the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8.

This 32-inch screen offers 4K gaming with an unprecedented refresh rate of 240 Hz, making it the first screen in the world with such a high refresh rate at this resolution.

Playing on a 4K monitor is often a surefire way to experience the most breathtaking graphics any game has to offer, but the high resolution is usually associated with a lower refresh rate. Samsung seems to have found a workaround for this problem with the Odyssey Neo G8 that offers the best of both worlds in one elegant package. This display offers both the high refresh rates that gamers want and beautiful graphics in 4K.

To be fair, many games won’t be able to take full advantage of this refresh rate in 4K even on the most powerful gaming PCs.

But it’s more than just resolution and refresh rate. The Odyssey Neo G8 is also equipped with Quantum HDR 2000, which is very bright. This is thanks to the use of quantum mini-LEDs, which offer a brightness of up to 2,000 nits and a contrast ratio of millions to one. Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 is likely to offer a breathtaking gaming experience, with an enormous color palette and deep contrasts to enhance them.

But it’s the lightning-fast refresh rate that makes the Odyssey Neo G8 a world first. At 4K 240Hz that’s a monster Gaming monitor regardless of the game. Add to that the 1ms response time, and we have a display that can play both story-driven RPGs and fast-paced shooters without interfering with the gameplay in any way. Samsung also supports both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia’s G-Sync to limit screen tearing.

It’s worth noting that it’s a curved display with a curvature of 1000R. While curved gaming monitors may not be for everyone, Samsung has released some very successful models in the past. This monitor has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 and an aspect ratio of 16: 9, which maximizes the gaming experience.

The distinctive look begins with the design of the display itself. Samsung has opted for a semi-futuristic design that looks like something in a science fiction film. More importantly, the design is very similar Samsung’s Odyssey G9, a massive (and enormously bright) monitor that the manufacturer released in 2021. Much like the G9, the newly released Odyssey Neo G8 is mostly white with black borders surrounding the screen itself.

Samsung has also used CoreSync lighting to make the gaming experience even more immersive. Lights attached to the back of the monitor automatically recognize the displayed colors and adapt to what is happening on the screen.

While the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 doesn’t stand a chance of finding itself on a list of the cheapest gaming monitors, it appears to be becoming one of the best for enthusiasts who value premium performance over price.
