Samsung launched the earlier this year Galaxy SmartTag, a Tile competitor that uses Bluetooth Low Energy to find your lost items. The South Korean tech giant now has announced the start of the Galaxy SmartTag +, an optimized version with Bluetooth Low Energy and Ultra-Broadband (UWB).
Thanks to ultra-broadband (UWB), the Galaxy SmartTag + can determine the location of your missing item more precisely than the standard SmartTag, according to Samsung. It also uses Augmented Reality (AR) to visually guide you to the object using your smartphone’s camera. However, you will need a smartphone equipped with UWB to use AR Finder guides. Samsung best android phones – including the Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra, come with UWB support.
AR Finder technology not only lets you know your missing day, it also shows you exactly how far you are from it. You can also have the tag make a loud ringtone when you get near its location so you can find it more easily.
Similar to the standard Galaxy SmartTag, it is also used in the Plus version Find SmartThingsBluetooth-based discovery functions. If you report your Galaxy SmartTag + as missing in the SmartThings Find app, nearby Galaxy devices that have logged in will notify Samsung’s SmartThings server of their location and you will receive a notification on your phone.
The Galaxy SmartTag + will be available April 16, but US consumers will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on one.
