Samsung Electronics Company has filed a federal lawsuit against Broadcom Inc., a chip supplier, alleging that Broadcom is in violation of antitrust laws by preventing Samsung from using other suppliers for its flagship Galaxy phones. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, accuses Broadcom of creating a binding agreement that restricts Samsung from purchasing critical cellphone components, such as Wi-Fi and GPS chips, from competitors of Broadcom. The agreement stipulates that if Samsung were to buy these components from other suppliers, they would also have to pay Broadcom. This legal action highlights the ongoing challenges faced by major tech companies in maintaining competition within the industry.
