Salesforce and IBM have recently announced an expansion of their partnership, aiming to provide customers with greater choice and flexibility in data and artificial intelligence offerings. By combining IBM’s Watsonx AI and Data Platform with Salesforce’s Einstein 1 software, customers will have access to more informed, data-driven decisions and actions directly from their workflow. The partnership will also offer two-way data integration, flexible large language models (LLM), pre-built actions and prompts for CRM solutions, and a commitment to responsible AI development. IBM will also join the Salesforce Zero Copy Partner Network, further simplifying access to customer data for businesses.
Rahul Auradkar, executive vice president and general manager at Salesforce, highlighted the improvements in data implementation that this partnership will bring. With two-way data integration, companies can harmonize their data faster, leading to actionable insights and integrated customer experiences across all touchpoints and channels.
One key feature of the expanded partnership is the integration of large language models (LLMs). Salesforce’s customizable Bring Your Own LLM strategy, powered by Watsonx AI and Einstein 1 Studio integrations, will give users greater flexibility with low-code AI builders. Customers will also have access to IBM Granite models, which are built on enterprise data sets meeting strict data governance standards. This integration allows joint customers to leverage Granite models for various applications.
Another key feature in development for later release is IBM’s industry-specific co-pilot actions and prompt templates, which will be available in Einstein 1 Studio. These templates are optimized for the Foundation and Granite models and initially focused on public sector use cases.
Further announcements from Salesforce and IBM include the upcoming launch of Generative AI (GenAI) in summer 2024, featuring access to LLMs on an open platform. Salesforce also revealed six highlighted products in the upcoming release. IBM, on the other hand, announced an expansion of its collaboration with SAP to focus on GenAI and industry-specific cloud solutions for improved customer productivity and innovation.
Overall, the expanded partnership between Salesforce and IBM aims to provide customers with enhanced data and AI offerings, driving data-driven decisions and integrated customer experiences. Key features include improvements in large language models, industry-specific co-pilot actions, and upcoming launches of innovative AI solutions from both companies. Together, Salesforce and IBM seek to empower businesses in making better use of their data for improved customer engagement and AI-driven decision-making.
