Ryan Roslansky to leave Microsoft

Ryan Roslansky, who ran LinkedIn before taking over Microsoft’s Office group, will leave the company at the end of 2026, as Jordan Novet reported for CNBC.

Chief executive Satya Nadella announced the exit in a memo to staff on Thursday, according to CNBC.

“Ryan leaves the organization in a strong position,” Nadella wrote

In his own memo, Roslansky said the role needed him at Microsoft’s base near Seattle. He chose to stay in California.

“I know what it would take for me to lead the next phase of this work well: being in Redmond full time, every day,” he wrote. “But my life and my family’s life are here in the Bay Area.”

From LinkedIn to Office

Roslansky joined LinkedIn in 2009 as head of product. He became chief executive in 2020, taking over from Jeff Weiner.

Microsoft bought LinkedIn for $26.2bn in 2016. While Roslansky led it, membership grew from 700mn to 1.3bn.
