Roskomnadzor, the government agency responsible for overseeing communications in Russia, is taking steps to block six other VPN providers. The move comes after the agency blocked access to a number of VPN services earlier this year that are helping Russians get hold of “prohibited” information.
Roskomnadzor wants to block more VPNs in Russia
The Russian Federal Service for the Surveillance of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) is preparing to restrict another six VPN platforms active in the country. The target providers are Betternet, Lantern, X-VPN, Cloudflare Warp, Tachyon VPN and Privatetunnel.
VPN services like the ones listed give Russian residents the ability to bypass state restrictions and gain access to information that is illegal in Russia, Forklog noted in a report published by Roskomnadzors. quoted Notice.
