Russia’s telecommunications and media regulator Roskomnadzor (RKN) put restrictions on the operation of Thursday VyprVPN and Opera VPN Services in the country.
“In accordance with the Ordinance on Responding to Threats to Evade Restrictions on Access to Child Pornography, Suicidal, Fraudulent and Other Prohibited Content, restrictions on the use of the VyprVPN and Opera VPN VPN services will be introduced from June 17, 2021.” Agency said in a statement.
The watchdog labeled them as threats under the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 127 dated February 12, adding that the restrictions will not affect Russian companies that use VPN services in continuous technological processes.
