When it comes to Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 Specifications, its chipset is something of a missing puzzle. The common assumption was that it would be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, but it now looks like the South Korean company has a surprise up its sleeve.

The prolific leaker Ice Universe claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s chipset is a top secret, which means we can count the Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100 that power the European and Middle Eastern variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 Galaxy S21 Series.

Z Fold 3 may be powered by the AMD-based Exynos 9925 or the Snapdragon 888+

During the Exynos 2100 unveiling event, Dr. Inyup Kang, President of System LSI Business at Samsung said, that “The next flagship” comes with an AMD GPU. It’s not clear whether he was referring to the next premium chip or the next high-end phone.

It is widely expected that Samsung will unveil the new GPU in June. However, an earlier rumor has it that it might take a while for a chip with AMD graphics to be released. However, the custom GPU should be available as early as 2022. So, Samsung appears to be working ahead of schedule and potentially launching an AMD-based Exynos chip earlier than expected. The chipset is apparently known internally as Exynos 9925.

The Exynos 2100’s CPU is about as good as the Snapdragon 888’s thanks to changes made by Samsung, but Qualcomm’s Adreno GPU still has one Edge in graphics. Leaked benchmark results suggest that Samsung’s AMD GPU will be a real Adreno rival and possibly even compete with the graphics performance of Apple’s Bionic SoC.

Alternatively, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 could be operated with a new version of the Snapdragon 888.

Samsung’s upcoming foldable flagship is expected to have a slightly smaller display and battery than the Fold 2. The technical data of the camera are largely unknown.

The phone will apparently be unveiled in July, next to the Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy S21 FE.
