ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – A Rochester Hills sixth-grader is a finalist in this year’s Doddle for Google contest.

Lerui Zheng, 11, of Troy, is a student at Avondale GATE Middle School. He was just announced as one of five finalists for the Doodle for Google contest.

The public can vote for their favorite Doodle now through April 29, 2026.

A national win would increase Lerui’s college scholarship from $10,000 to $55,000. His school would also get a $50,000 technology grant.

His piece, “Turning Brass into Happiness,” will be featured on the Google homepage as part of a revolving gallery on April 28.
