Intel is preparing to launch its next-generation Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake CPUs, which will include the Core Ultra 200 series. These CPUs will support Gen5 on all PC platforms and offer a range of I/O configurations. The upcoming Intel platforms will cater to various needs, from high-end desktops to thin and light designs. The Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake CPU families will be part of these platforms, with detailed information about their I/O capabilities recently revealed.

The high-end Intel Arrow Lake-S desktop CPUs will boast 16 PCIe Gen5 lanes for discrete graphics, 4 Gen5 and 4 Gen4 lanes for M.2 SSDs on the Tile IOE, and up to 14 Gen4 lanes on the PCH. The Arrow Lake-HX CPUs will have similar features to the desktop CPUs, with one additional USB2 lane. Moving down the stack, the Arrow Lake-H CPUs will feature 12 Gen4 lanes on the SOC tile, 8 Gen5 lanes for discrete graphics, and 8 Gen4 lanes for M.2 on the IOE tile. The lower-end Arrow Lake-U chips are expected to have similar or slightly reduced I/O capabilities compared to the Arrow Lake-H SKUs. On the other hand, Intel’s Lunar Lake CPUs will have all I/O capabilities on the SOC module, including UFS, Gen4, Gen5, and USB lanes.

Additionally, details about the pinout scheme for Intel’s LGA 1851 socket, designed for Arrow Lake-S desktop CPUs, were shared. The LGA 1851 layout differs significantly from the existing LGA 1700/1800 sockets, featuring 51 additional pins.

Intel’s Lunar Lake CPUs are set to be the first Core Ultra 200 products to hit the market in September, followed by the Arrow Lake-S Desktop CPUs for high-performance PCs in October. The rest of the Core Ultra 200 CPUs will be released in early 2025 after CES. More information about these CPUs is expected to be revealed at Intel’s innovation event in September.

In conclusion, Intel is gearing up to launch its Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake CPUs with diverse I/O configurations to cater to different user needs across various platforms. The upcoming CPUs will support Gen5 on all PC platforms and are set to hit the market in the coming months, showcasing Intel’s commitment to innovation in the CPU market.
