Revealed: I/O Configurations for Intel Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake Plus LGA 1851 Socket Pinout Plan

Intel is preparing to release its upcoming Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake CPUs, which will have a variety of I/O configurations detailed by @jaykihn0. These CPUs are part of the Core Ultra 200 series and will support Gen5 on all PC platforms. The Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake families are designed for a range of devices, from high-end desktops to slim and light designs.

The Arrow Lake-S desktop CPUs will have a Tile SOC with 16 PCIe Gen5 lanes for discrete graphics, the Tile IOE with 4 Gen5 and 4 Gen4 lanes for M.2 SSDs, and the PCH (800 series) offering up to 14 Gen4 lanes, 7 Gen4 lanes for SATA, and 2 Gen4 lanes for dual GbE LAN connections. Additionally, there will be a total of 13 USB2 lanes and 10 USB3 lanes. The Arrow Lake-HX CPUs will have similar specs to the desktop CPUs but with one extra USB2 lane. Moving down the stack, the Arrow Lake-H CPUs will feature 12 Gen4 lanes on the SOC tile, 8 Gen5 lanes for discrete graphics, and a mix of Gen4 and Gen5 lanes for USB connections.

The Lunar Lake CPUs will have all I/O capabilities on the SOC module, including UFS, Gen4, Gen5, and various USB lanes. @jaykihn0 also shared the pinout scheme for Intel’s LGA 1851 socket, designed for Arrow Lake-S desktop CPUs. The LGA 1851 layout has 51 additional pins compared to the existing LGA 1700/1800 socket.

Some additional details about the Arrow Lake ARL-S were shared, such as its clock speed range and voltage offset for the core. The GT slice and GT unslice may or may not share VR, depending on the motherboard. The Lunar Lake CPUs are expected to be the first Core Ultra 200 product to be available in September, followed by the Arrow Lake-S Desktop CPUs in October. The rest of the Core Ultra 200 CPUs will launch in early 2025 after CES. More information is expected to be revealed at Intel’s innovation event in September.
