Nvidia has reportedly made some changes to the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super cards, replacing the standard chips with larger ones used in the flagship RTX 4090 model. This change does not mean that the new cards will run at RTX 4090 speeds, though. Launched in early 2024, the RTX 4070 Ti Super features upgrades such as increased VRAM, expanded memory interface, and additional CUDA cores, making it a more powerful gaming graphics card compared to its predecessor. However, some graphics card makers are reportedly using the more powerful AD102 GPU from the RTX 4090 in these new RTX 4070 Ti Super cards. This change allows them to use existing RTX 4090 PCB and cooling designs and simply drop the new GPUs into place.

Some companies, like Colorful and MSI, have been rumored to be using the AD102 GPU in their RTX 4070 Ti Super cards, as indicated by spec sheets and leaks. Nvidia has not confirmed this change officially, but they have been known to swap chips between different GPU models in the past. The AD102 chip is larger compared to the AD103 and AD104 chips, which allows for differences in specifications between them. Graphics card manufacturers could be using leftover RTX 4090 GPUs that did not meet the standards to create the new RTX 4070 Ti Super chips.

In past years, modders have found ways to re-enable disabled parts on high-end GPUs to get better performance at a lower cost, but this method comes with risks. If you are looking to upgrade your graphics card, the GeForce RTX 4070 Super is currently a top choice for its performance and affordability.
