AWS Spatial Computing has launched VAMS 2.0, an open-source solution to enhance spatial computing data management for organizations dealing with increasing 3D data complexities. The update includes features for secure storage, transformation, and visualization of spatial assets, such as CAD files. Security has been improved with enhanced controls for AWS partitions, Web Application Firewall, FIPS, and more, ensuring adherence to strict standards. A new access control system has been introduced for fine-grained security measures, replacing the previous Cognito Amazon Group-based control. The configuration system now utilizes AWS CDK configuration with config.json and cdk.json files, enabling toggling of services like Amazon Open Search and managing VPC/subnet. Asset tagging, image and point cloud viewers, an updated file manager, and an email subscription system for notifications are also part of the VAMS 2.0 update. Bug fixes and performance enhancements have been implemented for a more stable experience. The release of VAMS 2.0 highlights the team’s dedication to providing a robust platform for visual asset management in the cloud, empowering organizations to tackle spatial computing challenges efficiently and drive innovation in various industries.
