RALEIGH – Red Hat’s The hiring frenzy announced this week is designed to bolster cloud computing efforts and recruit employees at every stage of the product development process.
Mike McGrath, Vice President Software Engineering at Red Hat, said in an interview with WRAL TechWire.
The new talent can help the company develop products that meet emerging edge computing needs as requested by current and prospective customers, he added. Red Hat’s cloud and know-how were the main reasons IBM acquired Raleigh-based Red Hat for a whopping $ 34 billion two years ago.
The company plans to hire more than 500 new employees, with a focus on recruiting in the Triangle and Boston.
“For these East Coast initiatives, especially in Boston and the Triangle, we’re looking for all of the things it takes to create an entire product,” said McGrath. This includes engineers, product managers, QA testers, and content creators among other roles.
