Threat intelligence giant Recorded Future announced Tuesday that it has acquired SecurityTrails, an Internet inventory startup that collects and stores current and historical domain and IP address data, for $ 65 million.
The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed immediately. A spokesman for Recorded Future confirmed the purchase price.
SecurityTrails collects and manages huge amounts of current and historical internet data, such as: These include domain name records, registration information, and DNS information, which gives organizations insight into where their threats are exposed – that is, the networks and servers that can be accessed across the broader Internet.
The two companies already have a longstanding relationship. SecurityTrails became a technology partner in 2018 – one year after it was founded – and provides Recorded Future with data for its intelligence platform that customers use to improve their security situation and ward off opponents.
