Raghu Raghuram, who joined VMware (NYSE: VMW) in 2003, was elected by the Board of Directors effective June 1 as CEO and board member of the Palo Alto, California-based technology company.
“Raghu is now in a position to shape the future of VMware and help customers and partners accelerate their digital business in this multi-cloud world,” said Michael Dell, VMware CEO, in a statement released on Wednesday .
The appointment came a month after Dell Technologies (NYSE: DELL) announced plans to spin off its controlling stake in VMware to expand into hybrid cloud, edge, 5G and other growth areas and simplify capital structures.
