Python is now available for download on the Microsoft Store

Terry Myerson, the former Vice President for the Windows 10 team at Microsoft, cleared their intentions of making Windows 10 ‘the best damn dev box on the planet’. Working on this vision, they have made more and more developer related tools compatible with Windows 10. They are building Windows 10 as a consumer, business as well as developer-oriented service.

Download Python from the Microsoft Store

Earlier, shells of various Linux flavors like Ubuntu, Kali Linux, Open SUSE and more made their way to the Microsoft Store. Now, the Python libraries are officially available to the users via the same Microsoft Store.

For those who don’t know, Python is a powerful yet easy high-level programming language that can be used for a number of purposes like Data Handling and more. As of now, the same Python libraries are delivered using MSI Installers, but this step of delivering it using the Store makes the process even more secure as well as makes it easily available in a centralized manner.

The description of the Microsoft Store listing reads-

Python is an easy to learn, powerful programming language. It has efficient high-level data structures and a simple but effective approach to object-oriented programming. Python’s elegant syntax and dynamic typing, together with its interpreted nature, make it an ideal language for scripting and rapid application development in many areas on most platforms.

The Python interpreter and the extensive standard library are freely available in source or binary form for all major platforms from the Python Web site,, and may be freely distributed. The same site also contains distributions of and pointers to many free third party Python modules, programs and tools, and additional documentation.

The Python interpreter is easily extended with new functions and data types implemented in C or C++ (or other languages callable from C). Python is also suitable as an extension language for customizable applications.

If you want to check out how this release 3.7 of libraries works out on your computer, find them on the Microsoft Store here.
