Public safety improvements in the cloud
Public safety organizations have more than ever the opportunity to be efficient, interoperable and data-driven thanks to cloud computing, a group of experts said during a webinar.
For example, the Public Safety Communications (PSC) division of the California Emergency Medical Services turned to the cloud to use device-based location data for 911 callers. When this data first became available a few years ago, devices at government public safety response points (PSAPs) were unable to integrate it. Now 82% of the state’s 911 calls come from mobile devices, and with the cloud, dispatchers can instantly view location data on their screens and review it with callers.
