Public cloud spend grows 26% in the first quarter

Microsoft, Amazon, Salesforce and Google are ahead

Public cloud services and infrastructure markets reached $126 billion in the first quarter of 2022, growing 26% year over year. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) Spend saw the largest growth, hitting 36%, or more than $44 billion, in the first quarter. These are some of the takeaways from Synergy Research Groups (SRG) latest report.

“Across the public cloud ecosystem, the most prominent companies have been Microsoft, Amazon, Salesforce, and Google. Other key players were Adobe, Alibaba, Cisco, Dell, Digital Realty, IBM, Inspur, Oracle, SAP and VMware,” SRG said.

According to the report, these companies collectively accounted for 60% of all public cloud revenue. SRG found that managed private cloud services, enterprise software as a service (SaaS) and content delivery networks (CDN) combined account for $54 billion in service revenue, which…
