Protecting Victims of Explicit AI Content on the Internet | The Spectator Australia

This week, independent ACT Senator David Pocock introduced a bill to “protect identity in (a) deepfake future”.

The bill is entitled Online Security and Other Laws Amendment Bill 2025 (My Face, My Rights). and will try to change that Online Security Act 2021.

The bill was introduced just weeks ahead of the “social media ban”, which comes into force on December 10, 2025, and is intended to ban Australian children under 16 from having a social media account. The key word is “trial,” as the technology is already doomed to failure due to significant age misrecognition, with a previous case in which a 16-year-old was identified as a 37-year-old.
