Microsoft has introduced a new range of products called copilot PC+ which are designed to work with artificial intelligence technology. The company has been facing challenges in the laptop market with decreasing sales of their Surface Pro laptops. One of the new features of these devices is called “Recovery” which takes snapshots of the screen every few seconds and stores them locally on the device. This feature has raised concerns about privacy, with experts warning that it could have a chilling effect on people. The Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK has also expressed concerns and plans to contact Microsoft regarding the implications for consumer privacy. Microsoft claims that the feature is optional and users can choose which snapshots are collected and stored. TIME has reached out to Microsoft for further comment.
