Microsoft has announced a major update to the general purpose service tier for Azure SQL Managed Instance. This update will greatly enhance the storage performance of instances without increasing the cost, making it a more cost-effective option for users. The improvements include support for up to 32 TB of storage, the ability to support 500 databases, lower storage latency, better storage performance, and the option to configure the number of IOPS. These enhancements will provide users with a higher price-performance ratio for their Azure SQL Managed Instance workloads, making it easier to migrate SQL workloads to the platform.
