Preview of Azure Deployment Environment’s Extensibility Model Updates: What’s New in Microsoft Azure

Azure Deployment Environments has introduced a new extensibility model that allows customers to customize their deployment workflows using various infrastructure-as-code (IaC) frameworks such as Bicep, Terraform, Pulumi, and more. This new model is now available in public preview and aims to simplify application infrastructure provisioning while providing platform engineers with the flexibility to tailor their workflows to their organization’s specific needs.

With this extensibility model, users can leverage their preferred IaC framework to create customized deployment workflows. For those using Terraform, they can directly incorporate Terraform templates into Azure deployment environments by configuring a container image. Similarly, users working with Bicep can utilize Bicep templates in their deployment environments either through a sample Bicep container image or by creating a custom container image for Bicep deployments.

This new feature is designed to empower users to streamline their deployment processes and adapt them to their unique requirements. For more information, readers can access the Azure Deployment Environments Extensibility Announcement Blog to learn more about the capabilities and benefits of this new extensibility model.
