Intel’s upcoming Core Ultra 200V laptop CPUs have had their benchmarks leaked, revealing impressive gaming performance with minimal power consumption. The leak suggests that Intel may pose a strong challenge to competitors like AMD and Qualcomm when these new CPUs are released later this year.
The second half of this year will see the release of new laptops featuring three different chips vying for the title of best gaming laptop. Qualcomm was the first to enter the scene with its ARM-based Elite X Chips, which offer great battery life but lackluster gaming performance. The leak includes performance data from various benchmarks, showing that the Lunar Lake CPU excels in gaming with scores of 3,438 points in 15W mode and 4,151 points in 30W mode in the 3DMark Timespy benchmark.
Comparatively, AMD’s current Hawk Point mobile chips score up to 3517 points in 35W mode, while leaks from @9550pro suggest that upcoming AMD Strix Point chips may reach around 3500 points in 15W mode and approximately 4000 points in 54W mode in the same test.
The leak indicates that Intel’s new CPUs could surpass AMD in peak GPU performance, but AMD may offer similar performance with slightly lower power consumption at lower clock speeds. However, these results are not confirmed by AMD or Intel, and performance may vary in retail products compared to engineering samples used in the tests.
Intel’s track record with driver and game support has been inconsistent, which could impact the performance of the new chips in real-world gaming scenarios. In contrast, AMD has seen success in the mobile gaming space with recent releases like the Asus ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go, offering impressive performance in portable gaming PCs.
