Nvidia’s stock continues to soar, rising 3.5% and becoming the world’s most valuable stock, surpassing Microsoft. The chipmaker now has a market cap of over $3.33 billion, with shares reaching $135 each. Nvidia’s success is attributed to the surge in generative AI interest, particularly after OpenAI introduced ChatGPT software in 2022. In the past year, Nvidia has seen a 215% increase in stock value and a remarkable 3,400% increase over the past five years. The company experienced a 175% gain so far this year, while Microsoft shares are up less than 19% in 2024.

On the other hand, Berkeley, a UK housebuilder, reported a pre-tax profit decrease for the year to April 30. The company plans to venture into the rental market to address the housing shortage in London. Despite the uncertain operating environment, Berkeley aims to develop 4,000 rental properties in London and the south-east over the next decade. Games Workshop, the maker of Warhammer, saw an 8% surge in its stock after predicting an increase in annual pre-tax profits to at least £200 million. The company’s core revenue exceeded £490 million for the fiscal year, with a significant profit growth of at least 17%.

Another notable development was Just Eat’s partnership with Amazon in Germany, Austria, and Spain, allowing free delivery on orders over 15 euros. The collaboration is mutually beneficial for both companies and expands Just Eat’s reach in Europe. In the US, Amazon has already included Just Eat-owned Grubhub in its shopping app, offering Prime members access to free Grubhub+ membership. Amazon’s Vice President of Prime, Jamil Ghani, described the partnership as a way to offer Prime members more savings and convenience.

Overall, Nvidia’s impressive stock performance, Berkeley’s housing market expansion, Games Workshop’s profit growth, and Just Eat’s strategic partnerships highlight the dynamism and resilience of these companies in the current market landscape. Investors and analysts will continue to monitor these developments as they navigate the ever-changing economic and business environment.
