Perplexity has released Comet, its new AI-enhanced web browser for Android, now available on the Google Play Store. The launch brings an AI-centric browsing experience to mobile devices, extending the company’s strategy of integrating intelligent assistance directly into the navigation process. With Comet, users can interact with an integrated AI assistant that analyzes web content and answers questions about the pages open in their tabs.
The Android version replicates the main capabilities previously introduced in the desktop edition. The built-in AI assistant can review and interpret the content of active tabs, provide clarifications about specific pages, and generate summaries of the material being viewed. This allows users to quickly understand complex information without needing to manually search for explanations. Additionally, Comet includes voice interaction support, enabling users to issue spoken commands and receive responses hands-free, enhancing accessibility and convenience.
This launch positions Perplexity as one of the first companies to offer a mobile browser designed primarily around artificial intelligence. While other platforms have introduced AI-related features, their approaches differ. For instance, ChatGPT Atlas remains exclusive to macOS, limiting its accessibility across devices.
