Perplexity announced the release of the Portable Computer local agent platform in the Perplexity app for WindowsThe system is designed for NVIDIA GeForce RTX-based personal computers and NVIDIA RTX PRO workstations with at least 24GB of video memory. Previously, this solution was only available on NVIDIA DGX Spark systems and Linux PCs, but support for NVIDIA DGX Stations is expected to expand soon. The tool performs multi-stage planning, combines information from various files, processes repetitive scenarios, and stores sensitive data directly on the user’s device.
Requests within the system are processed without depleting Perplexity Computer cloud credits, thanks to local models optimized for NVIDIA RTX GPUs, such as Qwen 3.8 27B. Users have access to a ready-to-use software environment with a built-in web browser and SPACE sandbox, eliminating the need to independently deploy a complex AI stack. If computations require advanced logical reasoning, the system requests permission to transfer data to an external cloud.
