Perplexity AI Inc.’s Comet AI agent can resume shopping on Amazon.com after the AI company convinced the Ninth Circuit Tuesday to overturn a court order banning the tool from the e-commerce site.
The injunction was improper because Perplexity’s tool didn’t “access” Amazon computers; instead, it was users who did with the help of the AI agent, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said.
Perplexity may send screenshots of Amazon pages users accessed to its servers to complete a requested task, but that doesn’t qualify as access to Amazon’s servers, the opinion said. So it’s unlikely Amazon …
