Turns out that Samsung may end up hiking Galaxy S26 price as an alleged plan sheds light on potential revisions. The Unpacked event may be held on February 25 in San Francisco, where the S26 trio will be revealed.
Korean outlet FNNews revealed Samsung’s alleged plan to increase the Galaxy S26 series price. A different publication from the country recently reported that Samsung has no option but to increase the pricing.
Good news for Americans, bad for Koreans
Galaxy S26 series may witness a cost increase ranging from 44,000 KRW (~ $30) to 88,000 KRW (~ $60). It’s expected that the price increase may be limited to South Korea and other markets, including the US, may remain unimpacted.
Specifically, the Galaxy S26 Ultra may launch with a starting price tag of 1.8 million KRW. It’s a steep price hike from the S25 Ultra, which starts at 1,698,400 KRW. Base and Plus versions would also be pricier in South Korea.
Keeping the Galaxy S26 at $799, S26 Plus at $999, and S26 Ultra at $1,299 will help the flagships retain their appeal in the US. Apple kept iPhone 17 prices unchanged, and that’s the reason Samsung can’t raise Galaxy prices in the US.
South Korea is one of the primary markets where Samsung flagships are available at relatively cheaper. Despite the price hike, the new flagships might remain a little more affordable (or same) than their US and UK counterparts.
