If you’re using an Apple Watch, iPhone, or iPad, now is the time to make sure you’ve downloaded and applied the latest operating system update as the tech giant has just fixed a critical vulnerability.
In its statement on iOS and iPadOS (as well as WatchOS), Apple confirmed that “there is a report that this issue may have been actively exploited”. This means that the vulnerability may already have been discovered and exploited by hackers, making the security patch urgently needed.
As mentioned in Apple’s patch notes, the exploit was found by Google’s Project Zero team and affects WebKit – the browser engine Apple used to build Safari.
For iPhone and iPad users, the operating system will be upgraded to version 14.4.2 (before the upcoming iOS 14.5 version) and the Apple Watch operating system version to 7.3.3.
