Jan. 11 (Reuters) – Parler LLC, a social media platform favored by many supporters of US President Donald Trump, sued Amazon.com Inc on Monday, accusing Amazon.com of making an illegal, politically motivated decision to to close them in favor of Twitter Inc.
In an antitrust complaint filed with the US District Court in Seattle, Parler said Amazon dealt a “death knell” by abruptly shutting down web hosting services on Sunday night shortly after Apple Inc and Google of Alphabet Inc removed the Parler app from their own app had shops.
Parler accused Amazon Web Services of hypocrisy for exhibiting a lack of confidence that it could properly monitor its platform, including removing content that encourages violence.
It was said that Amazon did so, despite no threats to suspend Twitter. In a recent tweet, US Vice President “Hang Mike Pence” was called for.
