After a California teenager’s death sparked allegations that an AI chatbot trained him to commit suicide, Australia will require AI providers from March to protect or restrict access to under-18s from self-harm, sexual content, violence and eating disorders, with fines of up to $50 million per violation. This follows a social media ban for under-16s from mid-December.
