Overwatch 2 roadmap for 2022 and partial 2023 revealed

One of the most important things Overwatch fans have been waiting for is a plan. A way for them to look ahead and see what’s coming. Communication between the Overwatch 2 development team and fans has been underwhelming at best. During the Overwatch 2 reveal event but eventually a path was laid. Fans now know what to expect not only for the rest of the year but also for 2023. Here’s a look at the Overwatch 2 roadmap for 2022 and part of it for 2023.

Overwatch 2 will move away from the loot box method and introduce a Battle Pass instead. To make this easier to integrate, squadrons are being added to Overwatch. There is a brand new season every nine weeks, and a new hero or map is added in rotating seasons. That means a new hero every 18 weeks. The Overwatch 2 development team revealed more below.

The first season and official launch of Overwatch 2 PvP will take place on October 4th. In addition, Season 1 will bring three new heroes, Sojourn, Junker Queen and support hero Kanezaka Fox, who was teased but not revealed. There will also be six new maps, four of which have been seen alongside Rio de Janeiro and Portugal. Last but not least, it brings new skins, the first-ever Battle Pass, Mythic Skins, and Push Mode.

There is no doubt that fans have been waiting for this moment for a while. Luckily for them, the roadmap continues. An all-new and un-teased tank hero is coming with Season 2, along with a new map, Battle Pass, and more.

To finish off the roadmap, they teased the 2023 timeline. Overwatch 2 will finally release its new PvE story mode and be a live service game for the first time in almost three years.

It really is a new era for Overwatch as Overwatch 2 brings so many additions. The game that so many loved is being brought into the modern gaming era, and in a very significant way.
