Thomas Mahler made the news this week. The game director for Ori and the blind forest and Ori and the will of the wisps offered some strong criticism “Snake oil seller“on Wednesday over ResetEraand aim specifically at Peter Molyneux, Nobody’s heaven and Cyberpunk 2077.

As you can imagine, this led to quite a heated debate. Given that Will of the Wisps suffered particularly badly Performance problems at launch he was accused hypocrisy in several quarters and criticized for a “reductive” stance.

However, since then Mahler has apologized. Release of a statement about Twitter yesterday he traced his previous comments and admitted he “screwed it up”:

My intention was definitely not to hurt anyone but to offer a discussion starter on current topics that the industry is facing. We all share a common love for this art form and should always treat one another with respect. And I wasn’t yesterday.

Was Mahler right to apologize? Do you agree with his original points or was he wrong this time? Let us know below.
