Oracle’s mass layoffs affected 158 workers in the Bay Area

Oracle’s mass layoffs this week will affect 158 ​​Pleasanton workers, according to state records.

The tech giant said 76 software developers, 30 application developers and 11 product management employees were among the layoffs at 5815 Owens Drive. The facility remains open.

The total size of Oracle’s layoffs was not confirmed, but the software company also laid off 491 employees in Seattle, according to a separate statement from Washington state officials. Last fall, Oracle has laid off 254 employees in the Bay Area as part of a major round of cuts affecting workers across the country.

Oracle employed 162,000 people as of May 2025.

Shares of Oracle rose 0.79% on Thursday and nearly 4% this week, but have fallen more than 25% in 2026.

The company announced in January that it was raising $50 billion in debt and equity to help fund artificial intelligence infrastructure.
